This Christmas Season ::

I have had many people ask me what to get either Justin or myself for Christmas. Rather than spending your money on me... I have a HUGE favor to ask. Can you instead do something that is an even bigger gift to me? Can you turn around and use that money on a complete stranger? Yep you heard me right... a complete stranger.

The Christmas season is very very hard on some. For one reason or another it can be a period of time where people suffer in silence. They usually don't feel okay talking about their reasons as to why it makes them either lonely, sad or depressed. So rather than spending your money on us... both Justin and I would rather you spend it on them.

Buy someone a coffee. Pay for their parking or toll fee. Bring someone a meal or a pastry. Get them a balloon, flowers or a card. Do something you would not normally do for someone you don't know. I know for some this is an odd question or something that is normally out of their comfort zone... but please realize that the amount of joy you will be giving that person is WAY MORE than any uncomfort you may feel.

If you don't have money to use on someone... there are still ways you can give us this Christmas gift. Go out of your way to give someone a compliment out of the blue. Walk up to someone that clearly needs it and give them a hug. Make someone laugh when it's obvious they want to cry.

My point is this... Christmas is about love not about what new trinket you got or gave. It's about taking a moment out of our own world and worrying about someone else's world. Too many of us have to walk our path in life surrounded by shadows. Love shines a light on that path that nothing else can. What I'm asking you to do is to be that light for someone. That's the best Christmas gift you could EVER give me. You never know... you may even like it. *wink*

So my cellphone died pretty much. Virgin knew they were defective and sold them anyway. Since they were unwilling to even give me a partial credit towards another phone, since I only got in in March of this year... I decided to go with Sprint. We got a second line put on Justin's sprint account. So I chucked the Motorola Triumph and now have a Steel blue Samsung Galaxy S3. My cell number has changed!! THIS IS THE NEW CELL NUMBER:

Not Vending Live Events In October ::

Taking October Off ::

I will not be vending the Cirque Du Burlesque Viva this friday.  I am also taking the entire month of October off from vending live shows.  I need a break.  I've been going at break neck speed for so long that I've forgotten how to relax.

Well now I'm doing that.  I will still be doing custom orders and client meetings but that's about it.  I will be back to vending in November.  So if you go to Viva Dallas Burlesque you will get to peruse and purchase sparklies again in November.  I believe that there may be a Cirque Du Burlesque show that month as well.  If so then I'll be there vending as well.

Art Love Latex Fundraiser :: Thank You!

Now that things have calmed down for more than a minute... Thank you to everyone who came out to the Art Love Latex show at The Church last sunday.  The entire thing went of perfect thanks to it's organizers.  Much money was raised for Art For Latex which was the entire purpose.  So I would say that it was a bonafide success.  In the end it was a much needed rounding up of the community to help support and show needed love to one of it's members.  Thank you again.

If You Don't Sparkle Then How Will You Stand Out?

Now I know a lot of this is because I'm a jeweler... but why do so many models do shoots without sparklies? I understand why you may be naked but why are your ears? I say the same thing to burlesque performers... Putting on something that is gorgeously sparklie doesn't detract from your overall look ladies... it adds to it. It's the period on your sentence. That final sparkle that says "remember me because you'll never find another like me".

Temporary Issues :: Finishing The Rewards

Due to my multitude of auto-immune diseases and then my trusty jeweler pliers breaking, I am a wee bit behind on finishing the rewards.  I have officially gotten past the halfway point on mailing out rewards to you lovely donors.


I am still attempting to find a good pair of pliers.  So many to choose from and yet so many of them are sub-par.  I refuse to use a tool that will not allow me to get a tight loop next to the bead.  That is the only way you can guarantee a good close fit.  Without that you risk easily breaking your sparklies and that is a no-no in my book.

So in closing, I have not forgotten about the rest of you.  Truly I will not!  I have a list of people that need their reward sparklies sitting at my desk to constantly remind me.  I am just in a pause mode until I can locate a decent pair of jeweler pliers.  (read:  not cheap and crappy pliers but cheap and good is always helpful.)

OSD's Burlesque Line Continues To Shine ::

Miss Vivienne Vermuth (@vforvermuth) wearing a gorgeous One Star Designs swarovsky sparkly necklace creation during her performance last week at Open Stage on Monday.  The necklace is made up of large faceted and smaller rounded swarovsky beads.  The beads are a gorgeous pale blue shade with a unique peacock ab glaze.   So depending on what colors she chooses to wear or how the light reflects off the beads, you can see a myriad of colors ranging from blues, violets and greens.
